Meritorious services of Bohra community lauded, opening of Dawoodi
Bohra mosque in beltway area

WASHINGTON, Aug 22 (APP)- Acting Ambassador Mohammad Sadiq Saturday eulogized the dedication and meritorious services being rendered by the Dawoodi Bohra community for the cause of spread of education, tolerance and commitment to citizenship.

He observed this while speaking at the inaugural of a Dawoodi Bohra mosque 'anjuman-e-ezzi' in the Washington DC metro area.

His Holiness Dr. Syedna Mohammed Burhannudin, supreme leader of the Dawoodi Bohra Muslim Community, presided over the ceremony.

In his speech, Mr. Sadiq paid rich tributes to the leadership of His Holiness and praised the Bohra community as a model Muslim community.

He particularly underscored the adherence of the community to His Holiness' teachings on helping the poor and importance of education.

He said it made him proud, several times, when he met bright students from the community at top notch American educational institutions. He also praised the Bohra community's dedication to citizenship, and commitment to tolerance.

Besides a large number of Bohras from all over the world, the inaugural celebrations were attended by diplomats, numerous representatives from Congress, the State Department and the D.C. State and Country governments.

The new mosque mirrors Fatimid architecture and will serve as a school, masjid and community center for the several hundred strong Bohra population of the capital beltway area.
