Ambassador of Pakistan conveys the condolences to Acting Secretary of State Ms. Henrietta H. Fore
The Government of Pakistan has condemned the suicide bombing near the American Consulate in Karachi that killed David Foy, a Foreign Service officer of the United States. In their separate condolence messages to President Bush, President Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz condemned the incident and expressed the sympathies of Pakistan to the Government and people of the United States and to the bereaved family. Calling it a ‘senseless act’ President Musharraf expressed his resolve to pursue the relentless fight against terrorism. In his message, Prime Minister Aziz emphasized that the terrorist act was aimed not only at the Pakistani nation but also its relations with the United States. The Ambassador of Pakistan Mr. Jehangir Karamat today called on Acting Secretary of State Ms. Henrietta H. Fore and conveyed the condolences and sympathy of the Government of Pakistan on the unfortunate incident. He also expressed sympathy with the family of David Foy. The Ambassador condemned the dastardly terrorist attack in the strongest terms. The Acting Secretary of State assured the Ambassador that the attack would not deter the two countries in their pursuit of terrorists. The suicide bombing in Karachi that took the life of Mr. David Foy is a shocking reminder of the terrorist threat against Pakistan. The incident, which comes on the eve of President Bush’s visit to Pakistan, is aimed at disrupting the visit and creating problems in Pakistan-US relations. The decision taken by President Bush to visit Pakistan, not withstanding the terrorist attack, reflects the determination of the two countries to strengthen their relations and continue their collaboration in the war on terror.
