The Deputy Chief of Mission , Mr. Muhammad Aslam Khan, visited Atlanta on August 12, 2006 to meet with the community organizations, state officials and media personalities. The main purpose of the visit was to represent the Ambassador at the Independence Day Gala that PAC Georgia had organized on August 12, 2006 at Atlanta where the DCM was the keynote speaker. He highlighted the major achievements after independence, focusing on the economic turn around, the comprehensive package of political, administrative and social reforms that the present government had implemented in the past six years.
The DCM also touched on the steady expansion in Pakistan-US relations in the post 9/11 phase, explaining the different dimensions of the Joint Statement on Strategic Partnership that was signed by President Musharraf and President Bush in Islamabad on 4 March 2006. The DCM lauded the community's contribution to Pakistan 's developmental process. He congratulated them for their achievements in diverse fields. He urged the community to play its critical role in strengthening further the relations between Pakistan and the United States .
