STUDY TOUR TO PAKISTAN BY OVERSEAS PAKISTANI STUDENTS IN THE FIRST WEEK OF DECEMBER 2003

The Board of Governors of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation has decided to restart the study tours of Pakistan for the younger generation of overseas Pakistanis settled in various countries particularly in Europe and North America. The purpose of such tours is to educate the young generation about socio-economic development in Pakistan and to improve their awareness of their cultural heritage. This study tour would afford a unique opportunity to the children of overseas Pakistanis who have not visited Pakistan for an extended period of time but have a keen desire to maintain a link with their country of origin.

During the tour, the participants would gain knowledge of varied aspects of life in Pakistan. The participants would visit places of cultural, social and religious significance and also meet well-known personalities. Cost of travel from Islamabad to other provincial capitals and local hospitality including cost of stay would be borne by OPF.

The students intending to undertake the study tour are required to meet the following criteria:

1. applicant should be a student of a recognized and registered educational institution;
2. age of applicant should be between 18 to 25 years;
3. at least one parent of applicant should be a member of OPF;
4. the cost of return air travel to be borne by the applicant (i.e. cost of travel from place of origin-Karachi-Islamabad and back).
