Message of Condolence from the

Ambassador of Pakistan H.E. Mahmud Ali Durrani

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, was killed in a terrorist attack in Rawalpindi on 27 December 2007. Her death is a national tragedy and an irreparable loss.

I strongly condemn this cowardly terrorist act and pray to Allah Almighty to bless her and all those who lost their lives with His mercy and rest their souls in eternal peace. I convey my sincere condolences to the bereaved families and the community of Pakistani Americans on this very sad and tragic occasion.

The perpetrators of this crime may be under the delusion that they would be closer to achieving their nefarious objectives through these barbaric acts. I have no doubt that this tragedy, on the contrary will strengthen our resolve to combat and eliminate terrorism, militancy and extremism from our society. I assure the community members that the Government of Pakistan will do everything within its powers to identify, apprehend and bring to justice the perpetrators of this dastardly crime.
