Ambassador Qazi met several Senators and Congressmen: They included Chairman Senate Foreign Relations Committee Richard Lugar, Chairman of the House International Relations Committee Henry Hyde, House Democrat Leader Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, Ranking Democrat, Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Joe Biden, Senators John Warner, Chuck Hagel, Sam Brownback, Tim Johnson, Richard Shelby, Lincoln Chafee, Feinstein and Pat Roberts, Congressmen Jim Kolbe, Jim Leach, Dana Rohrabacher, Eni Faleomavaega, Major Owens and Congresswoman Nita Lowey.

Ambassador Qazi briefed the Senators and Representatives on issues of Pakistan's concern. The legislators expressed support for the further development of Pakistan-US relations and appreciated the courageous decisions President Musharraf has made to facilitate socio-economic development of Pakistan.

Ambassador Qazi also hosted a dinner for the staffers of the key Senators and Representatives at his Residence on Thursday.

The Ambassador and the officers of the Embassy maintain close contacts with the legislators and officials on the Hill.
