Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. Sadiq visits Minnesota
WASHINGTON, Apr 3 (APP)- Like any dynamic relationship,
there had been in the past ups and downs in Pakistan-U.S. relations, and
these were now growing both in strength and dimension with passage of
time, DCM, Pakistan Embassy, Mohammad Sadiq Friday said.
He said this while addressing the award distribution ceremony organized
by the Pakistani-American Students Association (PSA) at the University
of Minnesota to recognize the services of community members who had attained
distinction in different fields of excellence.
He advised the analysts to see the phenomenon of the ups and downs of
Pak-U.S. relationship in the light of the normal dynamism.
These relations, he said, now were long-term and multi-year.
The Deputy Chief of the Mission called upon the Pakistani-American community
members to take part in the political system of the United States, and
become part of the society by excelling in their areas of pursuit- treating
it as their second home.
He laid stress on community service and joining of charities, urging Pakistani-Americans
to show their complete involvement, as they were expected to give back
to the society the gains they had attained. The system of the U.S. society
is foolproof and advanced, based on merit and quality of life.
They, he stressed, need to merge in the society, andbe part of the philanthropic
activities.
He also dwelt on Pak-India relations with special mention ofthe resumed
dialogue process to settle outstanding issues, particularly, the Kashmir
issue.
The ceremony was followed by a dinner which was also attended by director
International Students and Scholarship Services and the Provost of the
University, K. Thomas and Gerald Rinthard, respectively.
Provost Rinthard, in his welcoming remarks earlier, praised the Pakistani-American
students for their capabilities and sense of discipline. It was also for
the first time that an official of the Pakistan Embassy had come all the
way to attend the function.
A delegation of the P.S.A. from Minnesota will be arriving in Washington
DC, to attend PSA's National Conference scheduled for
April 9.
