Foreign Minister Kasuri arrived Tuesday evening and begin his three-day
U.S. visit
May 19, 2004-The Foreign Minister arrived Tuesday evening to begin his
three-day hectic Washington visit, starting May 19. He is scheduled to
hold a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell later Wednesday,
address Pennsylvania Foreign Policy Association on Pakistan-U.S. relations,
and address a press conference at the Watergate Hotel.
He said "We pay special attention to the Pakistani American community
and its causes, because it plays a critical role in Pak-US relations."
Pakistani community, he said, is a peace-loving, talented and professional
community and has contributed handsomely towards the socio-economico-political
life of American society.
The valuable contribution they render, he said, would be in the best interest
of the Pakistani-American community as well as for the promotion of Pakistan-U.S.
interests.
Mr. Kasuri advised the community members to continue to work in a positive
manner, to project its own causes and never to waste energy in any negative
campaigns against any other group.
The dinner was attended by Deputy Chief of Mission, Mohammad Sadiq, PAL-C
Board members: Mossadaq Chughtai, Pervaiz Lodhie, and Dr. Rafiqur Rahman.
PAL-C Executive Director Faiz Rehman and another Board member Attizaz
Din gave a brief presentation to the Foreign Minister on the Centers
plans and objectives.
The PAL-C board is composed of successful Pakistanis from around the United
States. PAL-C will be active as a political action committee and will
soon start a nationwide campaign to sign up Congressmen on the Pakistan
Caucus.
It will promote political activism within the Pakistani American community.
The Center will also build alliances with other like-minded groups.
